In Chapter 34 Oliver thought he saw Fagin and Mr.Monks in the window of his bedroom so he called for help and people came running to help Oliver after he filled them in on what happened they went on a long search to try and find them and hopefully catch them both but that search was not successful. They went back out searching the next day that was also not successful. In chapter 38 Mr.Bumble and his wife went to meet with Mr.Monks to tell him all about Oliver's past and more about who his family might be. Mr.Bumbles wife tells Mr.Monks everything without a second thought and now Mr.Monks knows everything he can about Oliver. Mr.Monks is Olivers half brother. In chapter 41 Oliver gets back together with Mr.Brownlow and they make a plan to try and stop fagin and Mr.Monks

Chapter 35: Harry and Giles rush to go help Oliver. They then search to find Fagin, but find nothing. Harry later on says that he loves Rose and wants to marry her. Although Rose also loves him, she says she cannot marry him due to the circumstances of her birth. Harry says that he plans to propose marriage one more time, but only one more time.

Chapter 37: Mr. Bumble marries Mrs. Corney and becomes the master of the workhouse. He regrets giving up his position. The next morning Mr. Bumble stops in a pub. A man in dark clothes is sitting there and he somewhat recognizes Mr. Bumble. He offers Mr. Bumble some money for information about Old Sally. Mr. Bumble informs him that Old Sally is dead, but mentions that he knows a woman who spoke to the old woman on her deathbed. The stranger asks that Mr. Bumble bring this woman to see him the following evening. He tells him his name is Monks.

Chapter 41: After Nancy and Rose’s meeting, Oliver tells Rose that he saw Mr. Brownlow on the street. Rose then takes Oliver over there. In chapter 35 Oliver sees two figures who he believes to be are Fagin and Sikes. Although it seems merely impossible that they were there Oliver sticks to his story. Personally, I think Oliver is still scarred from the last chance at a happy life that was taken away from him; so he has manifested his fears and associated them with Fagin and Sikes which goes to show how frightened he is by them. Mr. Buble thought he did something when he married the owner of the workshop to maintain higher pay but she verbally abuses him and he deserves it. After Nancy and Rose discuss Fagin and Monks’ conversation and come to the conclusion that Monks is related to Oliver and that is most likely why he's after him. I believe that he didn't get a large enough inheritance and now Monks wants to mooch off Oliver.

Mrs. Bumble makes a remark, and the bickering turned into a full-fledged rowl! 7. In chapter 35 Oliver sees two figures which he thinks are fagin and sikes. He becomes really scared and anxious. Oliver hasn't seen a real house and a real family and he seems really depressed about it so he has put his fears into fagin and sikes and hopes he wont see them ever again.

in chapter 37 Mr. Bumble was no longer a beetle, he was a normal person doing pretty well. he started getting depressed and used the quote that he "sold himself". Mrs bumble and him started badgering at eachother and he slapped her across the face twice which made her drop at once. they then got into a big fight and he left at once.

In chapter 37 Mr. Bumble marries Mrs.Corney, but they seem to be having some trouble. In one of the workhouses Mr. Bumble makes a big scene and all the ladies in there get upset with him. In chapter 38 they meet with the monks but they know not to say too much. The monk asks many questions about sally which seems a little odd but they want to know more about her. They end up paying him to find out more information but that is before he even knows anything about her.

In chapter 39 sikes is really sick which of course makes his mood even worse than usual. Nancy tries to help him and get him up but that only makes sikes angrier, to the point that he smacks her and she falls down. This really shows how terrible of a person sikes really is. Even after he has the audacity to do that to Nancy he later asks Fagin for money.

This second-to-last section of Charles Dickens’ literary sensation “Oliver Twist”, notably seven chapters in length as opposed to the usual five or ten, mainly concerns the friends Oliver has made throughout his adventures, and how their lives have begun to intertwine because of our young protagonist. The reading starts at Chapter 35, which immediately follows Oliver’s frightful encounter with Fagin and Monks. As the residents of the cottage arrive and find Oliver in such a state of shock that he is only able to articulate the minimum two words required to reveal what is the matter, Harry Maylie becomes the first to react, and immediately runs with amazing speed to pursue the criminals. The rest of the present characters quickly follow suit, but none can find any trace of either of the men Oliver claimed to have seen. Doubt begins to arise among the Maylies of Oliver’s having actually seen them and not simply dreamt them, and after returning to the outdoors for several consecutive days to search, the mission eventually becomes forgotten. Meanwhile, Rose continues to recover from her illness, and eventually becomes well enough that Mr. Losberne decides that he is able to depart back to the Maylie’s main estate in Chertsey. Harry Maylie finds the girl alone in the breakfast parlor one morning, and then initiates a long and important conversation that takes up the remainder of the chapter. Harry begins by telling Rose how thankful he is that she is well again, as so many of “the young, beautiful, and good, are visited with sickness, heir pure spirits insensibly turn towards their bright home of lasting rest; we know / that the best and fairest of our kind, too often fade in blooming” (314). He confesses that he has been in love with Rose for years now, and effectively proposes marriage. Rose turns him down, however, as she worries that the likes of her, and her place in society, will negatively impact him and his, but that she will gladly remain the most faithful friend a man could have until her dying day. Harry concludes the chapter by saying he would love to discuss this again within a year (Rose says that her decision will not be altered) and hurries out of the room.

Chapter 37 shifts the focus from Oliver and the Maylies to Mr. Bumble, who has now married Mrs. Corney (now Mrs. Bumble) and given up the position of beadle to become master of the workhouse at which she is the matron. It has been about two months since all of this occurred, and Mr. Bumble has acquired much greater wealth than he ever would have in his old position, but seems to greatly miss that line of work. The new Mrs. Bumble begins screaming at her husband, and this turns into a heated argument after he insults his wife’s first spouse- the long-deceased Mr. Corney- with an additional dose of misogyny. Both try and fail to break the other with various tactics they had used on weak-willed paupers, such as Mr. Bumble’s hard glare or Mrs. Bumble’s bursting into fake tears, but the fight turns violent as Mr. Bumble begins to approach his wife, now seated in a chair. Mrs. Bumble beats her husband savagely, and screams at him to get out of her house as she throws him to the floor. An additional nonverbal threat sends Mr. Bumble scrambling out the door, and the ex-beadle is left outside the workhouse, still in shock from being so inferior to a woman. Mr. Bumble began walking, and eventually overheard a group of women in the workhouse being a little too noisy for his liking. He storms into the room to scold them, only to find his wife standing right in front of him. He explains his reasons for returning to her, but she is insulted that he needs to keep sticking his head in her business and kicks him out once more. He walks through the city, until coming across a bar which he sees houses but one customer, who he does not yet know to be Monks. Mr. Bumble goes in to give Monks some company, and a dialogue ensues, which quickly turns its focus toward the young Oliver Twist. Monks requests to see “the hag who nursed [Oliver’s] mother” (332) and upon being told that old Sally had died the previous winter, he got up to depart. Mr. Bumble thinks it best to inform Monks that Mrs. Corney (as she is sometimes still referred to as rather than Mrs. Bumble) had spoken with this woman prior to her death and knew whatever it was that Monks wanted to hear. Monks gives Mr. Bumble his name, a place and time to bring Mrs. Corney to, and concludes the chapter with his departure.

The following chapters shift the focus onto Fagin and his associates, before passing back to the Maylies after the meeting and conversation of Rose Maylie (now in London) and Nancy in Chapter 40. Chapter 41 begins immediately after Nancy’s departure from the place of her interview with Rose, as the latter girl sits there trying to collect her thoughts. Rose tries to think of what she can do to help Oliver (and now, Nancy too) and decides to write a letter to Harry, in spite of the memory of their last parting. She spends a little while trying to think of a way to start such a note when she is interrupted by the young boy about whom she writes, who appears to have been quite flustered by something. He eagerly reveals that he “[had] seen the gentleman,/the gentleman who was so good to me—Mr. Brownlow, that we have so often talked about/Getting out of a coach,/and going into a house” (368). Within five minutes of this intrusion, Rose and Oliver had left to say hello. Upon their arrival, Rose, leaving Oliver in the coach, goes up to the door of the Brownlow estate and requests to see the gentleman on pressing matters. She arrives in an upstairs room to find him, accompanied by Mr. Grimwig, who throws a fit and talks the worst of Oliver as soon as Rose brings up the name. She tells Mr. Brownlow what had become of the boy since he had unwillingly left the Brownlow estate, and the gentleman, relieved that Oliver is not the hardened criminal that Mr. Bumble had previously made him out to be, asks where the child is, and he rushes out of the room once Rose says that he is inside the coach at the front door. When Brownlow returns, now accompanied by Oliver, he summons Mrs. Bedwin to see that the boy had indeed returned. He and Rose then leave the two in their sweet reunion to discuss the interview with Nancy. They came by some more associates of the Maylie family, such as Mr. Losberne and Messrs Blathers and Duff, and they ended up forming a sort of a council to determine how they will handle those who seek Oliver for their own profit. They decide that they will see if Nancy can lead them to Monks, and seeing as she will not become available again for another five days the council disbands to wait out the period.
